Euthanasia

Euthanizing a pet is not an easy decision. We are here to discuss options and assist in every way we can during this difficult time.

What is Euthanasia?

Euthanasia, which means “good death,” is a compassionate and peaceful way to end the suffering of a beloved pet. As the only medical profession licensed to carry out this responsibility, we take great pride in our ability to offer both the technical expertise and the compassionate care needed to ensure a serene and dignified passing for your pet. Our goal is to help you make this difficult decision with love, kindness, and support, providing comfort to both you and your pet during their final moments.

What to Expect

Each appointment begins with a member of our patient care team showing you to a quiet room and listening to any concerns you may have. The veterinarian will gently examine your pet and take the time to answer any questions you have about the process or your pet’s condition. A member of our client care team will then discuss the available aftercare options and assist with any necessary paperwork.

We will move forward at a pace that feels right for both you and your pet. The euthanasia process is peaceful and gentle. Once everyone is ready, a sedative will be administered to help your pet feel calm and comfortable. After 5-10 minutes, your pet will either drift off to sleep or become very relaxed. A member of our care team will then place a small intravenous catheter in your pet's leg or arm to ensure the final injection is given safely. Once your pet is comfortable, the final injection is administered, taking effect in just a few moments. The veterinarian will then listen to your pet’s heartbeat and let you know when they’ve peacefully passed.
